Day 5 - North of Ottawa, there is an ice jam in the Fox River. Several homes along the river have flooded and families have been evacuated. We went to look at the Dayton dam which is a particularly icy section of the river. During the summer, we enjoy canoeing home from this spot. The river has started to flow again. Thankfully, so far, it is a slow thaw.
To give you an idea of how high the river rose, this site shows a picture of the dam in warmer weather:

The dam is in the distance.
Homes across the river.
Information sign.
Notice how high the line for the ice is. I think that frozen flood waters are all around this tree. During the summer, this area is a pretty, green, grassy area.
No fishing? No swimming? No diving? No problem!!!
